How to show hidden files in FTP software like FileZilla and Winscp



  1. Open FTP software FileZilla:
  2. Go to server menu as in snapshot.

  3. Click on the “Force showing hidden files” from the server menu dropdown list and you are done.
For Winscp,
  1. Open Winscp:
  2. Go to option menu as in snapshot.

  3. Then “Preferences” (ctrl+alt+p) then in the next preferences pop up option,
    click on Panels then
  4. tick on “Show hidden files” alternatively (ctrl+alt+h)
  5. OK
For Cpanel,
  1. Open your website’s Control panel, likely this yoursitename.com/cpanel or yoursitename.com:2083
  2. go to file manager

  3. At the top right, Click “Settings” option

  4. Tick Show hidden files (dotfiles)
  5. save changes.
Now whenever you connect FTP/Cpanel then will be able to see system protected files and hidden files like .htaccess, webconfig and other configuration files which normally hidden in default state.
